After breaking up in 2012 with no intention of ever looking back, Alexisonfire reunited in 2015, and the rejuvenated band gradually started to write new music together again. In 2022, that resulted in Otherness, the band's first album in 13 years and yet another step forward. Otherness wasn't about trying to relive Alexisonfire's glory days; it was about creating even more glorious ones. It's the album that this band needed, wanted, and could have only made at that point in their career, two decades after their formation.
